MEET THE DOCTORS
Dr. Andrea Milam
Owner and Veterinarian
Dr. Andrea Milam received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Virginia Tech and then went on to graduate from Michigan State's University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has worked in Chicago, Virginia and Michigan. She currently resides in Clarkston, MI, where she took ownership of the Orion Oaks Animal Hospital in 2019.
Dr. Milam loves being the voice for animals in need, and is fortunate enough to work with several rescue groups to promote the human-animal bond while providing the best quality care. Her professional interests include soft- tissue/orthopedic surgery, dermatology and preventative medicine.
Dr. Milam is married, has one human daughter, Adalynn and three fur children: Bassett/Boxer mixes named Sherman, Frankie, and Hutch.

MEET THE TEAM
Veterinarian Technician and Manager
Melissa
Melissa has been a part of the Orion Oaks team since 2021 and has been in the field for over 6 years now.
She is currently enrolled in Purdue University's online technician program and hopes to graduate soon to become a licensed technician. In her free time she enjoys doing different types of art projects like painting and drawing. Along with being outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.
She has a cattle dog mix named Colt and two cats named Kai and Frances.

Licensed Veterinary Technician
Kayla
Kayla's career in veterinary medicine started in 2015 intaking animals at the humane society of Genesee County. She attended Baker College where she earned her Associates degree and licensure in Veterinary Technician in 2017. Kayla really enjoys inducing and maintaining anesthesia, taking care of hospitalized patients and performing procedures. Kayla is a bonus mom to a young boy named Jackson and has quite a few animals which include 3 dogs, 4 cats and a Quaker parrot. She enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses, and being involved in the classic car community with her 1966 Ford Mustang and her spouse's 1973 Buick Regal.
Licensed Veterinary Technician
Jess
Jess' career started after graduating from UTM in 2020 and accepted her first job at Auburn University. She has always had a passion for animals and advocating for those without a voice. Some of her favorite things to do at work are reading fecal, blood draws, placing catheters and intubating for anesthesia. Jess had a few fur babies of her own which include a dog, a horse and most recently, a kitten that was surrendered to OOAH

Veterinary Assistant
Elena
Elena has been in the field since 2021 and is currently enrolled in Penn Foster to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She is very passionate about animal care and educating others on their animals. She recently moved from Lansing in July 2023 and in her free time enjoys going on walks with her dog Buddy and trying new things.
Receptionist
Jamie
Jamie has been greeting clients and answering the phones with Orion Oaks since July of 2020. She loves greeting all the animals that come into the hospital and really treats them like her own.
Outside of work, she enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with her family. At home, she has two animals, a Boxer/Pit mix named Cash and a Tuxedo cat named Jovie.
Receptionist
Andrea
Andrea has been in the animal industry for 2 years now as a receptionist. It's been her faviorite job thus far. She loves spending time with the patients and helping anywhere she can. She has 2 animals, a 9 year old rescued pitbull named Petunia and a 9 month grey tabby named Minnie. In her spare time she likes hanging with her nieces and nephews who live with her. She also enjoys reading and watching a good movie.

Certified Veterinary Assistant
Jean
Jean is a certified veterinary assistant and has been for about 5 years. Before this she was a nurse assistant. She has her bachelors in Biology and is looking further into her education by applying to the technician program as well as getting her masters in veterinary forensic science.
She loves animals, sports, music and outdoors. She also loves traveling to different countries and learning about their cultures.
Jean has her own pack at home consisting of Zelda, Cash, Lily, and her newest member is Athena

Rene
Rene has been a Clarkston native for the past 40 years and working at this hospital for that past 25. She is an avid animal lover and has had many different types of animals over the years from birds,to pot belly pigs, dogs, cats and many more. In her free time she enjoys working on her secret garden and spending time with her grandchildren.

Laura
Laura is currently a receptionist/assistant while taking courses to be a Tech. Laura has been in the vet field since 2022 and is very passionate about animals and their care. She has three dogs Betsy Lou, Coco, and Frank as well as 2 cats (Sybil and Penny Dreadful). In her off time you can find her hiking, taking road trips or making crafts for others.

Toby
Chief Heart Officer
Toby moved in to Orion Oaks Animal Hospital in September 2019.
He loves laying in the sun and greeting clients. You can catch him in the front window of the clinic, watching the traffic go by!
Be sure to say hi, he loves to be petted!

Tortil
Front door greeter
Tortil is a Red-footed tortise. He found a home with us back in February 2023.
Some of his favorite treats are strawberries, and yellow peppers!

Papaya
Clinic Princess
Papaya came to us for check up appointment in 2021 through Michigan Animal Rescue League and we fell in love with her immediately.
She was born with a deformity of her back legs but this does not stop her.
